Lin has taught a broad range of courses in computer science. Currently she is teaching a first year computer networking course and a postgraduate data science course. Lin has been supervising PhD students in data mining and bioinformatics. She also supervised PhD students network security analysis in the past.
Lin’s current research is focused on data mining, causal inference and their applications. She is a chief investigator of several projects funded by Australian Research Council and the Data to Decisions Cooperative Research Centre. Lin works closely with biologists to develop and apply data mining and causal inference methods to solve real world biological problems.
