CFP: ACM TIST Special Issue on Computational Models of Collective Intelligence in the Social Web

Special issue of the ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology

Computational Models of Collective Intelligence in the Social Web

http://tist.acm.org,    SUBMISSIONS DUE AUGUST 30, 2010

Theme and Topics

Over the recent years, the ubiquitous use of computers and the World Wide Web enabled people to participate and interact with each other in numerous Web communities, such as forums, discussion groups, and social networks. Observing these interactions from user-generated social data offers computer scientists unprecedented opportunities for studying these rich interactions. To date, a considerable amount of research has been devoted to the social Web, but the fundamental mechanisms that govern the dynamics of online social interactions are yet to be understood.

We solicit submissions on the latest research in computational models of collective intelligence in the social Web. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • Exploiting collective human intelligence in knowledge extraction and modeling;
  • Modeling user behavior (including learning behavioral patterns from collective social media);
  • Computational social learning and social influence;
  • Social behavior prediction;
  • Predictive social dynamics;
  • Modeling complex social systems;
  • Social network analysis;
  • Large scale analysis of feedback and interaction logs;
  • Opinion extraction and trend detection;
  • Evolution of social communities and social media;
  • Collaborative filtering in social networks;
  • Knowledge inference from user messages in social networks.

Submissions

Papers should be submitted through the Manuscript Central system (to be available in April, 2010) at http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/tist. Please select "Special Issue: Computational Models of Collective Intelligence in the Social Web" as the manuscript type. Each paper will be reviewed by at least three expert reviewers. Further details on manuscript preparation as well as publication policies are available on the ACM TIST Web site at http://tist.acm.org/authors.html.
