摘要
Water is key for life, and particularly important for agriculture as the way to have a sustainable world. Despite climate change, the way how we use water requires a significant improvement in its management. Regarding this, it is proposed a framework aiming to enhance irrigation efficiency, reduce water consumption, increase production, and reduce costs, particularly in regions affected by drought. To optimize irrigation efficiency in agriculture, the data collected from Internet of Things (IoT) sensors and weather forecast information can be used. By evaluating the plantation’s health, the weather forecast information, along with a moisture sensor, the proposed framework can optimize and avoid unnecessary irrigation, thus keeping water and energy resources for later use. Additionally, a mobile application provides remote control and monitoring capabilities of the irrigation system. The containerization of the core components of the framework leverages its scalability to address future demand for more sensors, plantations, and farms that can contribute to develop new business models in agriculture.
