Huanchen Zhang Speaks Out on Memory-Efficient Search Trees

Welcome to ACM SIGMOD Record's series of interviews with distinguished members of the database community. I'm Marianne Winslett, and today I have here with me Huanchen Zhang, who is the 2021 winner of the ACM SIGMOD Jim Gray Dissertation Award for his thesis entitled Memory-Efficient Search Trees for Database Management Systems. After a postdoc at Snowflake, Huanchen is now an Assistant professor at Tsinghua University. His PhD is from Carnegie Mellon University, where he worked with David Andersen and Andy Pavlo.
