The device has a touch-sensitive picture screen (201) i.e. multi-touch screen, for representation of a virtual object in a virtual reaction space (200). A manipulator (101) is arranged on the screen. A sensor actuator unit is connected with the manipulator and arranged on the screen. The actuator unit is designed for acquisition of movements of the manipulator. An evaluation unit evaluates an interaction of a virtual extension (202) of the manipulator with the space and controls the actuator unit based on the interaction. The manipulator is formed as a rod (103) guided by a sleeve (104). An independent claim is also included for a method for haptic acquisition of a virtual object.
