Work placement in a multi-tenant system for compliance with service-level objectives

In some examples, a method is described for work placement in a multi-tenant system for compliance with service-level objectives (SLOs). The method can include receiving a set of SLOs for an application to run on a plurality of Physical Machine (PM) slots in a multi-tenant system and determining a work placement for PM slots within the plurality of PM slots in order to comply with the set of SLOs. Determining the work placement can include creating a first subset of PM slots selected from the plurality of PM slots. The first subset of PM slots can be determined to comply with a first SLO of the set of SLOs. The number of PM slots selected for the first subset of PM slots can be limited by a predetermined maximum number of PM slots for the first SLO.
