Development of trail network model and web-based bikeway routing service system.

A trail network data model provides an infrastructure that can be used for non-motorized transportation analysis and decision making. In this paper, a trail network model, TNM, is discussed, and a web-based bikeway routing service system, BikerRouting, is presented to provide routing services to bikers on the Virginia trail network implemented based on TNM. In this paper, 1) the trail network model design is presented and its differences from a standard street network model are analyzed, and 2) the online bikeway routing service system is discussed.
